1. Overview
Transcribe Video to Text is a Chrome browser extension that transcribes and summarizes audio and video content. We are committed to protecting your privacy.
2. Data We Collect
Audio data: When you click Transcribe, audio from the active tab is temporarily captured and sent to Deepgram for processing. Audio is not stored after transcription.
Usage credits: We store a usage counter per session to enforce the free-tier limit. No personal data is stored.
YouTube video metadata: Video ID and title are read from the page to identify the video. Not transmitted to our servers.
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect your name, email, or any personal identifiers.
We do not store transcription results on our servers.
We do not track browsing history outside of active transcription sessions.
We do not sell or share data with third parties for advertising.
4. Third-Party Services
Audio transcription is powered by Deepgram. Audio is transmitted solely for transcription and is subject to their privacy policy.
5. Permissions
tabCapture / offscreen: To capture tab audio for transcription.
activeTab: To read the current page URL and video metadata.
storage: To store your credit balance locally in the browser.
sidePanel: To display the transcription interface.
6. Data Security
All audio data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS. We do not retain audio after transcription is complete.
