1. Overview

Image Enhancer is a Chrome browser extension that enhances, upscales and unblurs images using an AI model that runs entirely on your device. This privacy policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, how it is stored, and with whom it is shared.

2. Your Images

Your images never leave your device. All image processing happens locally in your browser. Images are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored on any server. We have no access to the images you enhance.

3. Data We Collect

• Anonymous usage statistics: A randomly generated identifier is created and stored locally in your browser. It is sent to our server together with the extension version and your browser interface language when the extension is installed, once per day while it is in use, and when it is uninstalled. This identifier is random, contains no personal information, and is not linked to your identity. We do not log or store IP addresses with these events.
• Uninstall page: When you uninstall the extension, your browser opens a short farewell page on our server, which records the uninstall event as described above.

We do not collect images, browsing history, page URLs, or any personally identifiable information.

4. AI Model Download

On first use, the extension downloads its AI model file (about 5 MB) from GitHub (GitHub Privacy Statement). This is a standard, one-time HTTPS file download; no information about you or your images is included in the request. The model is then cached locally in your browser.

5. How We Use Your Data

• Anonymous usage statistics are used solely to count installs, uninstalls, and active users, so we can understand overall usage and quickly detect broken releases.
• We do not use any collected data for advertising, behavioral tracking, profiling, or sale to third parties.

6. Data Storage and Retention

• Local storage: Your settings and the random statistics identifier are stored in your browser using Chrome local storage. This data stays on your device and is removed when you uninstall the extension or clear browser storage.
• Our server: Anonymous event records (random identifier, event type, extension version, interface language, date) are stored on our server as aggregate statistics. They contain no personal data.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share user data with any third parties, advertising networks, or data brokers. The only external service involved is GitHub, which hosts the AI model file download as described above.

8. Permissions

• offscreen: To run the AI model in a background document with GPU acceleration.
• storage: To store your settings and the anonymous statistics identifier locally.
• alarms: To schedule the once-per-day anonymous usage ping.

9. Data Security

All network communication (model download, anonymous statistics) uses encrypted HTTPS connections. Your images are never transmitted anywhere.

10. Your Rights

Since we do not collect personally identifiable information, uninstalling the extension or clearing your browser storage removes all locally stored data. For any data requests, contact us at the address below.
